My Love Note

Dear Downtown Skyline,

Thank you for making me pause and reflect every fall evening. For years I have entered my office building at 30th Street in the dark of morning, quick reprieve at lunch but leaving the office as the sun was setting made it all worth it. From under the Drexel railroad trellis, looking downtown on Market Street, the setting sun reflects perfectly off the glass of the skyline.

Thank you for providing the perfect canvas for the sun’s final act each day. The perfectly sun-illuminated buildings on the darkening sky is an amazing contrast. The road is lit by streetlights and headlights while the buildings remain lit by sunlight. When the sun finally sets the lights of the individual windows are visible. For a brief time each early evening you can bask in the beauty of the sun, steel and glass all at once. It is day and night in one image. It is a reminder of all that occurred that day and an inspiration for the next.

Love, 30th Street Office Dweller
