My Love Note

Dear East Passyunk,

Thank you for letting me “see” South Philly and for being a neighborhood where everyone seems to be my friend. A typical fall day: we took a walk down East Passyunk Ave and said hello to Jessie at Belle Cakery, visited with all the great folks at Urban Jungle, waved to Tory at Fond, stuck our heads in the open window at Noord and shared a moment with Joncarl and Bob, looked through the window and saw Lynn hard at work at Paradiso, and then met Nick at Laurel a week before he opened. What an astonishing and deep sense of a community.

When we add in our favorite “local places” like Devil’s Den, SLICE and its home-y atmosphere and finally Chickie’s, it all adds up to a very, very special place. We’ve lived in NY and SF and two places in Europe and have never felt this sense of a community moving forward. Let’s together banish all the old myths of Philadelphia and tell the world all about this amazing, new Philly.
