My love note:

Dear Mummers,

I love you, just like this city.

Just like this city: you are misunderstood.
Just like this city: you sing and dance and make me smile.
Just like this city: you are loved by some, hated by others.
Just like this city: people think you’re drunks, but they just see what they want to see.
Just like this city: you are rough and tumble, even in a dress.
Just like this city: you are average, spay-painted gold.
Just like this city: you represent us all.

Just like this city: you are tradition and history.
Just like this city: you have a good time in the face of adversity.
Just like this city: you are hard workers.
Just like this city: you are beautiful.
Just like this city: you are one of a kind.

You, my dear Mummers, are Philadelphia and I do love you.
