Editor’s note: The interns of Campus Philly share their most loved Philly spots and experiences as students in the City of Brotherly Love.
Favorite Spot: The Dandelion
Neighborhood: Rittenhouse Square
Address: 124 South 18th Street
I am: A college student pursuing an English and History degree at Temple University. Slowly but steadily eating all of Philadelphia one piece of fish and chips at a time.
Current Home: The Main Line
My Love Note:
Dear Dandelion,
I love you. I just love you. I love you so much that I’m writing an article about your establishment, even though I know you don’t need the publicity. I love you even though I can barely afford to eat an appetizer without going almost a thousand dollars deeper into student debt. I love you even though dessert isn’t free on your birthday, and the waiters don’t sing the Beatles’ “Happy Birthday” to you.
I love the way you play music that’s in my iPod that nobody else has ever heard of. I love how everyone magically acquires a British accent the minute they step in the door, only for it to disappear the moment they walk out into the street. I love the way your waiters somehow become 10 times more attractive simply due to the fact that they work there. I love the way the decor and pub atmosphere make me feel, like I’m hanging out in London without the pricey plane ticket. I love the way I force everyone to take me here for dinner every time a special occasion or holiday comes up (Groundhog Day counts, right?). I especially love that eating here never, ever gets old.
Simply put, I think you’re the bees’ knees.
Cheers, Magali
